MBBS Admission Process in Uttar Pradesh
The MBBS admission process in Uttar Pradesh is conducted by the state’s Directorate General of Medical Education. If you plan to pursue the MBBS course there, you must participate in the Uttar Pradesh NEET UG counselling. You must follow these steps in the NEET counselling.
- Online Registration.

- Publication of Merit List.
- Choice filling and choice locking.

- Downloading of Allotment Letter.
- Reporting and Admission.
Online Registration
If you want to participate in the Uttar Pradesh counselling for MBBS, you must start with online registration on the UP-DGME website(https://upneet.gov.in/).
Fill in all the mandatory fields such as your personal information (name, caste, address), education and qualification details (Class 10th and 12th details, NEET exam), etc.
A few scanned documents must also be uploaded, like past exam mark sheets, caste certificates, etc. This is for online verification by the UP-DGME.
Remember, proper information or clear documents can lead to the rejection of the application form. So, prepare things beforehand and fill out the form with patience. Evaluate twice before you submit!

Payment of fees – Registration Fees & Security Deposit
An online registration fee of Rs.2000/- must be paid to complete the application form. Once done, you can download a copy of the online application form.
Apart from the above fee, you must also pay the security deposit before the choice-filling. The security deposit of Uttar Pradesh MBBS counselling is Rs. 2,00,000/- lakh. This is compulsory, but don’t worry; this amount is refundable after admission. Take advantage of the payment receipts; they are important!
Merit List
The UP-DGME will announce the combined state merit list after completing the online registration round. If your name is on the list, you are eligible to participate further!
Choice filling and choice locking.
Choice filling and choice locking are scheduled for 2-3 days. This is an important step. Apart from the rank, your allotment also depends on the choices entered.
You get to select the colleges you are interested in for pursuing your medical education.
Further, you must lock the options you have entered, as choice locking is mandatory in UP counselling.
Result Declaration
As the option entry rounds are completed, get ready to get your results!
The UP DGME will declare the students allotted to MBBS based on their rank and college choices.
Downloading of Allotment Letter
Once you are allotted an MBBS seat, you will receive the allotment letter from the DGME. Save it with yourself!
Reporting and Admission
The result you received online is provisional and only confirmed after the reporting procedure. Every allotted student must visit the nodal or reporting centre designated by the UP-DGME. There, your documents will be verified by the admission authorities.

MBBS Eligibility Criteria in Uttar Pradesh
You must take note of the MBBS eligibility criteria before participating in the admission process. So, I have added the four eligibility clauses that apply to the Uttar Pradesh MBBS admission process.
- NEET UG exam qualification is compulsory for everyone; you must at least secure the minimum cut-off marks.
- The age criteria state that at the time of MBBS admission, you must complete 17 years or more.
- In the 12th exam, you must obtain a minimum 50% aggregate mark in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology if you are a general category candidate. For reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC), you will need a minimum of 40% PCB aggregate. Along with this, for every student, a pass mark in English subject is also compulsory for eligibility.
