The institution has increased its admission capacity from 50 to 60 students since it was recognized by the Central Council of Indian Medicine,  Ministry of Health & Family Welfare & Department of AYUSH, Government of India.

The unique hospital-integrated medical program of S.V.M. Ayurvedic Medical College distinguishes it in Karnataka. Students from the second, third, and fourth years begin their clinical experience by participating in sessions at the new R.P.K. Ayurvedic Medical Center.

Interaction with patients of all ages is part of this experience, as is the opportunity for students to perform history-taking and physical assessments on campus. The devotion of the university to practical learning improves the whole educational experience for ambitious Ayurvedic practitioners.

Initially affiliated with Karnataka University Dharwad, the college gained recognition for its Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S) program, with an intake capacity of 60 students. Later, the affiliation transitioned to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, Bangalore.

The fundamental goal of the B.A.M.S program of S V M Ayurvedic Medical College is to develop Ayurvedic medicine experts who would serve humanity via traditional health and medicine wisdom. The course offers a holistic approach, focusing on comprehending the human body from numerous perspectives, such as anatomy, physiology, metaphysics, medicine, and herbal formulation preparation.

Students dig into the diagnosis and therapy of pathological disorders, with an emphasis on restoring body biochemistry (Doshas) balance through lifestyle and nutritional practices. Furthermore, the institution offers postgraduate (M.D./M.S.) courses in four disciplines, which contributes to the institute’s expertise in Ayurveda.
